The Construction Code Finder has been developed to allow you to quickly locate commonly
adopted model codes and regulations, as well as common design/construction standards
for drawings and specificaitons now in use in the United States.
The codes and references it presents are intended to present you with a wide range
of resources that you may want to consider in the development of your plans.
It is not intended to be a guide to applicable laws in any state or region.
Before starting a project it is always a good idea to check with the agency that issued your permit to determine
exactly which codes will govern it.
For your convenience, all references with a "star" icon next to them have are hyperlinked
to online resource where you can learn more about it or purchase it. Some
of the "classic" calculation references featured here are no longer in print, but
still widely used in the field. To the extent possible, we have linked these
to appropriate online sellers of used and out-of-print books.
All of the codes, standards and references presented here are categorized as follows:
- Calculation References - These are widely used reference manuals which address engineering
calculation procedures for a topic.
- Model Codes and Standards - These are references that are commonly adopted by public
ordinance. Examples are building codes and public health standards.
- Materials Specifications References - These range from ASTM and AWWA standards to
regional standard specifications such as the "Greenbook" in California and the MAG
Standards in Arizona.
- Installation Specifications - Like the materials specification references, these
include regional, state, and local and industry standards, and are generally suitable
for adopting by reference in construction specifications.
- Industry Detail References - These are standard details which are published or sponsored
by trade organizations such as the AIA or SMACNA.
- Agency Standard Detail References - These references present standard details which
have been adopted by specific public agencies.
